Overview:
The Assistant Secretary of Defense for Sustainment (ASD(S)) is the senior logistics official and principal advisor to the USD(A&S), DEPSECDEF, and SECDEF on logistics and materiel readiness across the Department of Defense. The ASD(S) prescribes policies for logistics, maintenance, materiel readiness, strategic mobility, product support, and sustainment; advises senior leaders and military departments; monitors and reviews relevant programs; and participates in the DoD Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution process within their areas of responsibility. The SCRM-IC is newly chartered and directly accountable to the ASD(S). Its mission is to identify and accelerate the adoption of best practices throughout the Department to address supply chain risks. We are seeking candidates with the following skills and qualities:
- Strong understanding of risk management principles and reporting.
- Experience developing and maintaining action plans and risk registers.
- Ability to analyze and communicate enterprise-level risks and mitigation strategies.
- Proficiency in coordinating governance activities and tracking decision outcomes.
- Familiarity with logistics, materiel management, and risk control integration.
- Event planning and execution skills, including logistics and onsite support.
- Excellent organizational and communication abilities.
- Capacity to manage multiple priorities and support routine operational tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Risk Management and Reporting: Develop and maintain plans of action and risk registers, providing regular status and annual reports on supply chain risks and mitigation efforts.
- Governance and Decision Tracking: Track and manage enterprise-wide risk decisions from governance forums through closure and report progress to stakeholders.
- Risk Controls Integration: Identify, propose, and implement supply chain risk controls into DoD business processes, assess tools and services, and track implementation progress.
- Summit and Event Support: Plan, coordinate, and provide administrative and logistical support for the annual Supply Chain Risk Management Summit and related events.
- General SCRM-IC Support: Perform standard tasks to support the overall mission and operations of the SCRM Integration Center.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be willing to go on-site in Alexandria up to 5 days a week.
- 2+ years’ experience in supply chain risk management.
- 2+ years’ experience reporting on enterprise-level risks, mitigation activities, and monitoring governance decisions.
- 2+ years’ experience integrating risk controls into business processes and evaluating tools for compliance.
