Clearance: Active Secret Clearance required

Overview:

The Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Logistics (ODASD(Log)) serves as the principal advisor to the ASD(S) and oversees the Department of Defense’s logistics strategy and policy, including supply, storage, distribution, property, equipment, transportation, and program support functions. The office executes its mission by establishing logistics policies and procedures, improving operations and readiness through guidance and governance, monitoring and directing supply and sustainment programs across the Military Services, and leading the development and oversight of DoD logistics and Commercial Support to Operations (CSO) policies. ODASD(Log) also ensures efficiency and effectiveness of the logistics enterprise through metrics, improves visibility and accountability of critical assets, supports auditability, and monitors the Defense Working Capital Fund. We are seeking candidates with the following skills and qualities:

  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with executive-level correspondence and document management.
  • Familiarity with DoD policies and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and virtual meeting platforms.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate records.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate operational and compliance risks.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to support cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Front Office and Executive Support: Prepare daily read-ahead materials, manage records, provide leadership talking points, compile reports, maintain contact/distribution lists, support congressional reporting and audits, align with strategic plans, and manage website/social media communications.
  • Policy and Issuance Management: Maintain and update ODASD(Log) policies and issuances, review and analyze proposed changes, draft recommendations, manage issuance development, conduct policy research, and provide monthly status reports.
  • Process Mapping and Business Process Improvement: Develop and maintain business process maps and enterprise architecture, ensure compliance, document processes, and update as needed.
  • Standard Administrative and Analytical Tasks: Draft correspondence, presentations, and reports; manage tasks in CATMS; develop project plans and timelines; support audits; maintain SharePoint/Teams; and support boards and committees with research, analysis, and briefings.
  • Policy and Regulation Development: Analyze internal and external policy proposals, recommend updates, ensure compliance with laws, implement approved changes, and coordinate with issuance managers.
  • Directorate-Specific Support:
    • Supply: Support policy, governance, and program management; analyze practices; recommend improvements; and track key programs/events.
    • Transportation: Support governance and procurement improvements; provide metrics; manage special requests; and recommend process efficiencies.
    • CSO: Develop and maintain doctrine, policy, and processes for OCS, VTM, and PSC; support governance, stakeholder engagement, and reporting.
  • Surge and Special Studies: Conduct surge studies, deliver reports and briefings, and assemble SMEs and resources for special projects.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be willing to go on-site in Alexandria up to 5 days a week.
  • 2+ years’ experience in administrative support and office management.
  • 2+ years’ experience preparing briefing materials, talking points, and strategic communications content.
  • 2+ years’ experience in process mapping and enterprise documentation.
