Position: OSD DASD(Log) – Subject Matter Expert II

Location: Alexandria, VA (on-site)

Clearance: Active Secret Clearance required

Education: Bachelor’s Degree required (MS preferred)

Overview:

The Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Logistics (ODASD(Log)) serves as the principal advisor to the ASD(S) and oversees the Department of Defense’s logistics strategy and policy, including supply, storage, distribution, property, equipment, transportation, and program support functions. The office executes its mission by establishing logistics policies and procedures, improving operations and readiness through guidance and governance, monitoring and directing supply and sustainment programs across the Military Services, and leading the development and oversight of DoD logistics and Commercial Support to Operations (CSO) policies. ODASD(Log) also ensures efficiency and effectiveness of the logistics enterprise through metrics, improves visibility and accountability of critical assets, supports auditability, and monitors the Defense Working Capital Fund. We are seeking candidates with the following skills and qualities:

  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience preparing executive-level materials and reports.
  • Ability to conduct policy research and draft policy updates.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and MS Teams.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to compliance and audit standards.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Administrative and Office Management: Provide administrative support, manage office operations, supplies, equipment, and visitor access.
  • Meeting and Engagement Support: Coordinate logistics for meetings and engagements, including setup, documentation, and follow-up on action items.
  • Correspondence and Task Coordination: Manage official correspondence and task assignments, ensuring compliance with policies and tracking progress in designated systems.
  • FOIA and Information Management: Process and track Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests while maintaining accurate records.
  • Website and SOP Maintenance: Update organizational websites and maintain standard operating procedures.
  • Personnel Support: Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes for staff.
  • Drafting and Research: Prepare draft correspondence, briefings, and supporting materials through research and coordination.
  • Risk and Internal Controls: Implement and maintain internal controls to address risks and ensure compliance.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be willing to go on-site in Alexandria up to 5 days a week.
  • 2+ years’ experience in logistics and executive-level operational support.
  • 2+ years’ experience drafting, reviewing, and routing executive-level correspondence and official documents.
  • 2+ years’ experience preparing briefing materials, presentations, and talking points.
